When Billy’s Coffee Became Part of the City’s Story
Share
In Port Said, every street has a story.
Every stone in El-Sharq neighborhood… is a witness.
And every cup of coffee at Billy’s… tells a story.
But this time, the story had a different tone.
Because we weren’t just talking about coffee —
we became part of the story of a city.
A museum was created by the hands of the locals —
Dr. Mahmoud Fishara, Dr. Mohamed Shagar, and others who worked tirelessly to collect every detail, every picture, every journal, every memory… so nothing would be lost.
The “City’s Story” museum opened its doors to let people experience the spirit of Port Said.
Not just watch it.
From royal heritage, to the era of resistance, to the communities that lived here and left their mark…
this place isn’t just a museum — it’s the heart of the city, displayed on its walls.
And that’s where the moment of connection happened.
Billy’s isn’t just a café — and as Dr. Mahmoud said when we met:
"You’re not a place that serves coffee… you are an extension of the city’s spirit."
So we decided to make the experience complete.
Billy’s is honored to officially join the cultural tour of the City’s Story museum.
Visitors hear, see, feel…
and end their journey with a cup — not just any cup —
a cup made with love, respect, and the spirit of Port Said.
A simple scene? Maybe.
But when visitors sit, ask questions, sip their coffee, and learn about Simsimiyya, resistance, joy, and tears…
we understand that coffee isn’t just served.
Coffee has become the storyteller. And Billy’s has become part of the story.
Thanks to Dr. Mahmoud Fishara,
and thanks to everyone who believes culture doesn’t need to sit on high shelves.
It can exist in El-Sharq neighborhood,
in a small museum,
or in a cup of coffee,
served proudly.
