From the Guestbook | A Transcontinental Cup of Coffee

Do you know that moment when you realize you’re doing something far bigger than you thought?
Like starting a café just to roast and serve coffee… and discovering that what you’re really serving is a whole country.
At Billy’s, we’ve never looked at coffee as just a drink. Sure, we love its taste, we care about every detail… but it has never been “just a drink.” It’s a story. A soul. A city.
A few weeks ago, a guest from Japan came in. A simple man, visiting Port Said for the first time.
He ordered Turkish coffee. He paused, sipped, and then said gently, with a smile:
"This place has a beautiful calmness, and the coffee here is smooth even for someone like me who isn’t used to it."
After chatting a bit about coffee and Port Said, and explaining how the cup he just drank left that impression on him… he didn’t leave without buying some beans and an espresso machine, so he could relive this experience back home.
Believe me, that moment affected us deeply.
We were sitting on a side street in Port Said… but the coffee roasted here, brewed slowly in the cezve over a gentle flame… traveled all the way to Japan.
It wasn’t just coffee that reached him; it was Port Said itself.
The guest left… but he left behind a big feeling:
We don’t sell coffee.
We tell the story of a country… in every sip.
We restore the respect for Turkish coffee… and make those who have never tried it, fall in love with it.
And honestly, that’s the joy of passion.
It’s not about selling… it’s about conveying.
It’s not about opening a café… it’s about opening a window into the soul of a country.
